Neurological
symptoms appeared after circulatory disturbances in our region
were treated on neurology departmens. In western countries, neurological
complications of cardiovascular diseases were treated through
specialized units for cerebrovascular insults or through internal
medicine units.Hypertensive encephalopathy is condition with minimal
ar transitory neurological symptoms after transitory but remarkable
elevation of arterial blood pressure. On Intensive Health Care
Unit in Tešanj General Hospital we treated patients presented
with hypertensive encephalopathy.Team of doctors involved specialist
in internal medicine, neurologist and ophthalmologist.Patients
in this study were treated on Intensive Care Unit in period 01.01.2000
to 30.06.2000.Study involved 56 patients. If patients were presented
with neurological symptoms, which were disappeared within 6 hours,
patients were treated as transitory ischaemic attack, and were
considered as a grade above hypertensive encephalopathy. If neurological
symptoms persisted longer then 6 hours, patients considered having
brain stroke.Absence of fixed and clear neurological symptoms
associated with elevated blood pressure and with other signs of
hypertensive encephalopathy was considered as hypertensive encephalopathy.Study
followed possible disturbances of heart rhytm with possible hemodinamic
impact on brain circulation and those patients were treated on
another way.Eye fundus was classified on 4 grades. We followed
course of treatment and results and did not find differences in
course of disease compared to refernces.Interdisciplinary approach
in hypertensive encephalopathy included specialist in internal
medicine, neurologist and ophthalmologist accompanied with proper
laboratory diagnostic means benefit for patients.Symptomatic,
one-speciality approach treatment was avoided. We propose interdisciplinary
treatment for neurological complication on internal deseases.
