ARTERIAL DISEASE (CHD) AND DIABETES MELLITUS IN YOUNG PATIENTS

Patients
with CHD were analyzed in Mostar Clinical Hospital in last 10
years, total of 290 patients (238 male, 52 female). 62 patients
were present with diabetes mellitus (47 male, 15 female). Aim
of this study was estimation of impact for diabetes mellitus to
mortality and morbidity of patients with coronary disease. Significant
difference was found in morbidity of male patients with diabetes
(83.7%) related to patients age (8.8% with diabetes: 2.31% without
diabetes in age 26-30, 12.9% with diabetes mellitus, 4% without
diabetes mellitus (DM) in age 31-35: 19.35 with DM, 10.35 without
DM in age 36-40.). Significant increasing in mortality was in
population with DM and CHD (16.2%:3.33%). Conclusion: Diabetes
mellitus is multidimensional pathological condition with multiple
complications, especially acute coronary disease with significant
increase in mortality rate.
