Bacterial
endocarditis is a serious condition with very high mortality rate.
A modern treatment relies on using the antibiotic regimens based
on results of bacterial cultures and in certain cases, the operation
is treatment of choice. We reviewed all treated and dignosed cases
during last two years, in our two hospitals in Sarajevo. At the
same time we want to emphasise the role of TTE and TEE in diagnostic,
follow up, assessment of complications and treatment of this serious
condition. TEE is of paramount value concerning this matter.
