During the
last decade the understanding of the process of coronary atherosclerosis
and the risk factors in this disease, have dramatically improved.
The application of preventive measures to modify and control the
risk factors can lead to the stabilization of the atherosclerosis
and so contribute to the decrease of mortality caused by CHD-CVD.
Therefore, in many countries preventive measures of CVD and the
control of risk factors have become an integral part of health
care of the population. In BH prevention o of CVD is still not
sufficiently practiced, though the rate of this disease is high
and increasing. Therefore the purpose of this presentation is
to define the problem posed by the present and projected burden
of CVD, to formulate appropriate strategies for national action,
to present the method and approach of preventive measures of CVD,
recommended by the European Association of cardiology. The presentation
will outline the content and the details of preventive measures
used in the management of CHD-CVD such as the following:
- to screen
the presence of risk factors of CVD such as smoking, adverse
nutrition, hypertension, increased cholesterol and physical
activity.
- to estimate
an individual absolute risk of developing a CHD event over the
next 10 years, using the coronary risk chart.
- to apply
the recommended preventive measures in the management of life
style, hypertension, obesity, increased cholesterol among the
patients with CVD and the population.
- to educate
medical personell to be capable to screen risk factors.
- to estimate
the coronary risk factors and to apply the inernational recommended
measures in modifying the risk factors.
